Privacy notice
How SCC Land Registry and SCC Nexus Limited handle website use, optional Google Analytics, server logs and data protection rights.
Who operates this website
SCC Land Registry is operated by SCC Nexus Limited, which determines the purposes of personal data processing for this website. For privacy requests, please use the contact arrangements published on the SCC Nexus website. This site provides aggregated property statistics and does not offer account registration or an address-level lookup.
Information processed
The website can receive technical connection details such as IP address, browser information, access time and requested URL through the hosting provider's server logs for delivery, troubleshooting and security. An optional analytics service may receive page views, device/browser information and online identifiers only after you choose Accept analytics. Our simple postcode search is processed in your browser and does not require an account; the selected outward postcode can appear in a shareable page URL and corresponding hosting logs.
Optional third-party map services
If you open the Land Change Atlas and actively request a postcode-district map, the page sends only that outward postcode district (not a full address) to the independent Postcodes.io lookup service. The optional nearby-district comparison queries the Postcodes.io nearest-outcodes API and SCC Nexus aggregate district feeds, after you request a map. If you explicitly choose an experimental dated land-cover overlay, your browser also requests capabilities and raster tiles from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) map services; those services may receive your IP address and the approximate geographical map extent. Once the map loads, requests for the relevant vector map tiles and controls are made to OpenFreeMap; the optional map-rendering library is obtained from jsDelivr. As with any external web request, these providers can receive connection information such as your IP address, user agent, referrer and approximate district/map area. We do not request device geolocation or transmit a full household address. The map is optional and the rest of the property site works without loading map tiles. Refer to Postcodes.io, OpenFreeMap and jsDelivr for their own practices.
Legal bases
Where necessary to serve the site securely and investigate misuse, we rely on legitimate interests in running a safe information service, subject to your rights and any applicable exceptions. We rely on your consent for optional Google Analytics cookies and related measurement. You may decline analytics and still use the property data without disadvantage.
Google Analytics and transfers
If you opt in, we activate Google Analytics 4 using measurement ID G-HY2VWC0GS8. Google may process technical information and identifiers in other countries, including the United States, according to its published terms and applicable safeguards. Advertising-personalisation signals are disabled in our tag configuration. We do not activate the Google tag before consent. Google privacy information provides further detail.
Retention and choices
Your analytics preference is stored in your browser for up to 180 days so we can honour it, unless you clear site data earlier. We configure analytics cookies for an intended maximum of approximately six months, subject to browser or Google behaviour. Hosting log retention and GA4 server-side event-data retention are controlled by the relevant provider/account settings and must be verified and recorded before public deployment; this page does not make an unverified retention promise. You can reopen Cookie settings on any page, reject analytics, and clear cookies/browser storage. Withdrawal stops further analytics collection by this site's scripts; previously processed data is handled under the applicable privacy rules.
Recipients, rights and complaints
Relevant service providers may include the web host Hostinger and, if you opt in, Google Analytics. Subject to applicable UK GDPR rules, you may request information about personal data, ask for correction or erasure, object or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Requests can be sent using the SCC Nexus contact channel; identity checks may be needed where appropriate.
Property data and third-party rights
Our published JSON feeds contain aggregate figures by postcode district. They are not designed to reveal householder identities or individual address records. HM Land Registry Price Paid Data may include third-party rights in address information that are separate from the Open Government Licence.
